This lakefront property just outside Victoria was designed and built in 2018 for a busy family of four and their large dog, with durability on equal footing with its classic, casual aesthetic.
Around the kitchen’s perimeter, the pristine finish of Benjamin Moore’s Cloud White highlights the lightly bevelled shaker-style cabinetry and contributes to the sense of spaciousness. A naturally finished built-in hutch breaks up the expanse of white, ties to the bleached flat-cut walnut of the island, and softens and warms the feel of the room. Thomas Philips Woodworking sourced the veneers and custom-pressed all the walnut out of the same tree which ensured a consistent grain pattern throughout and lends a soothing sense of continuity to the overall design. A half-height walnut barn door closes off the kitchen from the home’s main entrance, its striking herringbone pattern adding texture and style.
